The McGregor Heritage Society is a registered local heritage authority who is self-funded and solely reliant on donations and community support. The MHS undertakes various community projects every year and is the governing authority of the McGregor Museum and of McGregor’s tangible and intangible heritage.

In terms of its Constitution the McGregor Heritage Society (MHS) is a juristic person distinct from its officers and members. The Society is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) set out in section 30(3) of the Income Tax Act No. 58 of 1962. Donations made to or by the PBO are exempt from Donations Tax. The MHS is also a registered conservation body with Heritage Western Cape (HWC/RCB/09/05)
